Are you a Parent or Guardian?
Safeguarding children is the action we take to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm and is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play.
Working Together 2013 the guidance for agencies in safeguarding Children and Young People defines safeguarding as:
- Protecting children from maltreatment;
- Preventing impairment of children's health or development;
- Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and
- Taking action to enable all children to have the best chances.
All agencies that deal with issues involving children are available to offer parents and carers' advice and support throughout a child or young person's life.
